Digestive Diseases Research Center

The most common digestive diseases include gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), functional disorders of the digestive system such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and celiac disease (gluten sensitivity, which is the protein from wheat and barley).
Since establishing the Digestive Diseases Research Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences extensive research on various gastrointestinal diseases have been conducted in the country and valuable information has been obtained.
No doubt, continuing these studies will clarify other aspects of these disorders.
We hope that with the results and outcomes of these studies, more comprehensive knowledge and information about the state of these diseases and gastrointestinal patients in the country will become available, so that in addition to providing enhanced services and solutions to the people of Iran, we will have contributed to the advancement of the fundamental knowledge and science related to these issues.
In addition to the clinical services and scientific research conducted at this Center, these activities have been instrumental in expanding successful international collaborations, training young professionals as well as experienced and knowledgeable human resources. We anticipate that the continuation of these partnerships will play an important role in the development of creative and knowledgeable individuals, who are the most important national assets of our country.
